Balancing AI tensions: Moving from AI adoption to effective SDLC use

DORA read 1,110 comments from Google engineers and found that AI speeds up drafting, boilerplate and getting started, but the time saved often goes into checking the output, and reviewers carry a heavier load as pull requests grow. It also lets engineers work in unfamiliar areas without the struggle that builds deep expertise, and fast prototypes still need the slow work of getting to production. Their advice: measure impact rather than lines of code, move AI feedback to the author, keep changes small, cut down the number of tools, and protect time for deep learning.
